Application

Spherical zinc dust for zinc-rich coatings

Long-term protection for steel substrates through sacrificial-anode cathodic protection.

Container terminal and port structures

Where it is used

The main use of zinc dust is as the key raw material in zinc-rich anti-corrosion coatings, applied to large steel structures that cannot be hot-dip or electro-galvanized (steel buildings, offshore installations, bridges, pipelines and so on) as well as to ships and containers, protecting the steel substrate for the long term through sacrificial-anode cathodic protection.

Why Welllink zinc dust

  • Metallic zinc content of 96% or more, with lead, cadmium, mercury and chromium tightly controlled, meeting GB 30981.2-2025 (limits on harmful substances in coatings, Part 2: industrial coatings).
  • Precisely controlled, narrowly distributed particle size with a high proportion of fines; fine spherical particles fill the pores in the film and link up more readily into a conductive network, improving resistance to penetration and to salt spray.
  • Suits both solvent-borne and water-borne zinc-rich systems; in water-borne systems it disperses well, has low oil absorption and resists settling and flocculation.
  • Coatings made from it are smooth and dense, thin and even, cover more area per unit of zinc, and stand up well to weathering and corrosion.
