Where it is used

This zinc dust is optimized for sherardizing and mechanical plating, treating prefabricated steel components, bolts, screws, drive pins and similar steel products against corrosion. Precise control of its physical and chemical properties produces a dense, continuous and firmly bonded zinc-iron alloy layer on the workpiece, extending its service life in demanding environments.

Why Welllink zinc dust

  • Lead, cadmium, iron, chromium, mercury and other harmful elements are tightly controlled, so impurities interfere less with formation of the zinc-iron alloy layer at high temperature and the risk of brittle phases, pinholes and similar defects is reduced at source.
  • A narrow, even size range of moderate fineness meets the process requirements of both sherardizing and mechanical plating; it promotes uniform thermal diffusion and control of layer thickness while avoiding the local thickening caused by coarse particles and the patchy coverage caused by agglomerated fines, giving a consistent layer thickness and a clean surface. Custom grades are available on request.
  • Surface oxidation is low and reducing activity is high, stable and controllable, with little batch-to-batch variation; the powder is compatible with common diffusion agents and works with them to raise diffusion activity and the reuse rate of the furnace charge, diffusing steadily over a wide range of temperature and time so the zinc-iron layer forms quickly and the process runs more efficiently.
  • The powder resists agglomeration and flows and disperses well when charged or sprayed, coating the workpiece evenly; both high-volume standard components and complex parts with deep holes or threads are treated uniformly all over, so protection is consistent across the whole part.
