Where it is used

Zinc dust is widely used in making diamond tools, where it strengthens the alloy matrix and, being low-melting, forms a low-melting alloy phase with the copper base that brings down the sintering temperature. It can also partly replace tin powder, cutting production cost, and helps make the tool sharper.

Why Welllink zinc dust

  • A suitable, even size distribution produces enough low-temperature liquid phase during sintering to densify the matrix and reduce local segregation.
  • Made from premium 0# zinc ingot, the powder is high in purity and low in lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, iron and other harmful impurities, which helps keep the sintering reaction efficient, avoids brittle phases, and keeps matrix toughness and grip on the diamond stable.
  • Fully enclosed pipeline conveying and nitrogen-blanketed production keep the oxygen content of the powder tightly controlled, limiting the effect of oxidation on alloying and the sintering process and reducing the risk of weaker segments and shorter tool life.
  • Particle shape and size are made to order: spherical or irregular-shaped zinc dust at 150, 200, 325 and 500 mesh, with custom grades on request.
