Where it is used

Zinc dust is widely used to make friction materials such as brake pads, brake blocks and clutch facings, where it refines the structure of the matrix and improves density and bond strength. Its low melting point also improves alloying in copper- and iron-based systems, lowering the sintering temperature and simplifying the process.

Why Welllink zinc dust

  • High metallic zinc purity and low oxygen content effectively suppress pores, blisters and delamination during sintering.
  • Particle size and apparent density can be controlled precisely, so the mix stays uniform and resists segregation; sintering shrinkage and matrix density are easier to hold steady, keeping performance consistent between batches and volume production of brake pads stable.
  • Good low-melting-point alloying lowers the sintering temperature and saves energy, and the powder can replace costly tin and nickel powders weight for weight to cut raw material cost. The resulting friction material has a stable friction coefficient, wears well and runs quietly, while also acting as a sacrificial anode that reduces rust damage to the mating disc.
  • The full range covers 200 to 1200 mesh, suiting friction material formulations for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, wind-turbine clutches and more, with custom grades on request.
